JON HAMM IS a man of his word. In late 2022, he starred in a commercial for Apple TV+ called “Everyone But Jon Hamm,” where he sat alone in a screening room, an image reminiscent of the famous Mad Men scene when Don Draper goes to the movies in the middle of the afternoon. In the ad, Hamm laments the fact that so many of his uber-famous peers from the worlds of film and television were a part of projects on Apple TV+, but he, at the time, was not. “I could’ve done Lasso,” he says, referring to Jason Sudeikis‘s role in Ted Lasso. “Jen and Reese… but no Jon,” he adds, referring to The Morning Show. “Feels like a missed opportunity!”

In the years since, Hamm has made his real life into something of a sequel to that ad, first appearing in a supporting role in the third season of The Morning Show (joining Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, in fact), and now leading his own series, Your Friends & Neighbors. (His decisions to actually appear in projects produced by Apple TV+ stands in stark contrast to those of Timothée Chalamet, who appeared in a similar commercial around the same time… but has yet to appear or sign on to anything associated with the Apple TV+ brand. )

While Hamm did indeed appear on The Morning Show, Fargo, and Landman in recent years, it was Your Friends & Neighbors—which he led and also executive produced—that marked his first leading role on TV since his legendary run on Mad Men. And intelligently, both his character and the show itself on Your Friends & Neighbors could not be more different from both of those things on Mad Men; the tone, the setting, and the overall story make sure this is an entirely different thing, and prove that it’s leading man can just about do it all.

The first season of Your Friends & Neighbors winds up touching on a lot of different areas, from thievery to romance to drama to violence, all with a darkly comedic, somewhat winking tone, reigned in my Hamm’s familiar narration. It’s a lot of moving pieces, and in less adapt hands may not have worked—but the Apple TV+ audiences kept it at the top of the platform’s streaming charts all season long, and now it’s time to get ready for season 2.

Which—surprise!—is coming. No mystery on this one. Now, here’s what we know so far about Your Friends & Neighbors season 2.

Will Your Friends & Neighbors have a season 2?

Apple

It will! Your Friends & Neighbors was renewed for season 2 way back in November 2024, several months before the show’s first season even premiered; This shows just how confident Apple was in the show and that it would become a hit.

“I pick things by, basically, does it interest me, and would it interest me as an audience member?” Jon Hamm said in an interview with Men’s Health. “I’m glad Apple enjoyed it so much that they’ve already picked it up for a second season.”

James Marsden will join the cast of Your Friends & Neighbors in season 2.

Not only will Your Friends & Neighbors be returning for a second season, but it will also be adding a major star to its cast as well: James Marsden.

Marsden, who most recently appeared alongside Sterling K. Brown in Hulu’s Paradise, is best known for his roles as Cyclops in Fox’s X-Men franchise among many other roles, but he recently earned his first-ever Primetime Emmy nomination for his brilliant performance (as a wild version of himself) in Jury Duty. We don’t know much about who Marsden will be playing on Your Friends & Neighbors, but he should be able to fit in very naturally alongside Hamm, Amanda Peet, and the rest of the show’s returning ensemble cast.

When will season 2 of Your Friends & Neighbors be released?

Apple

Your Friends & Neighbors season 2 doesn’t have a release date just yet, but it should be coming to you much earlier than you’d expect in this day and age. Season 2 of the show is already in the midst of filming, and it’s certainly not an effects-heavy show like Stranger Things that needs a lot of time to finish things up in post-production.

In all likelihood, Your Friends & Neighbors will return right around the same time as it premiered: Spring 2026.
